Job Summary:

As a Data Scientist at Visa, you will be an integral part of the Global Commercial Payments Platform, contributing to the development and innovation of B2B payment solutions. Our team, based in Foster City, CA, is at the forefront of managing Visa's cross-border funds movement, driving non-card-based payment innovations, and fostering strategic partnerships with key financial institutions globally. This role involves working on diverse technology stacks, including distributed ledger-based cross-border payment platforms, near-time settlement, enterprise ID stamping, Hyperledger chain-code development, end-to-end payment ecosystems, analytics, and data visualization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explore Emerging Technologies:

    • Engage in the development of distributed applications using emerging technologies.
    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in the field to contribute to innovative solutions.

  • Collaborate Across Teams:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, and Project Managers.
    • Ensure seamless development and implementation of data-driven business solutions.

  • End-to-End Development:

    • Drive the development effort from start to finish, ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.
    • Align solutions with requirements, adhere to architectural vision, and comply with industry standards.

  • Risk Management:

    • Collaborate with senior technical staff and Project Managers to identify, document, and manage risks and issues.
    • Develop contingency plans and track issues until resolution.

  • Effective Communication:

    • Present technical solutions and features in business terms.
    • Communicate status, issues, and risks precisely and in a timely manner.

  • Implementation Strategy:

    • Partner with Product teams to devise and execute implementation strategies.

Hybrid Work Model: This is a hybrid position, allowing employees to alternate between remote and office work. Hybrid employees are expected to work in the office 2-3 days a week, with flexibility based on business needs.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or an advanced degree in Computer Science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in distributed software development
  • Hands-on experience with data, server-side, UI, and open-source software
  • Proficiency in at least two of the following: Java / Go / Scala / Python
  • Knowledge of developing Data Pipelines, including Ingestion, Transformation, Extraction
  • Experience in large Data Pipeline handling is a plus
  • Familiarity with container strategies and ecosystems such as Docker, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture and scalable solutions, including orchestration
  • Blockchain technical expertise is a plus
