The Enterprise Data Analytics team at UPS is searching for a dedicated Data Scientist to tackle large scale, complex business challenges
-
You will use statistical modelling and cutting‑edge AI tools to deliver meaningful operational improvements for UPS business processes

The Data Scientist will collaborate with the MLOps team to debug and enhance existing AI solutions while supporting model productionization
-
Expect to work with multiple stakeholders across different organizational levels to translate business needs into technical modelling requirements

You engage with senior leadership presenting scalable, robust and innovative solutions to operational challenges

A combination of strong communication skills and technical expertise is essential to explain analytical methods and results to both technical and business audiences

Qualifications

Proficient in Python and SQL for data manipulation and querying
-
Hands‑on experience with Python libraries such as scikit‑learn, pandas, numpy, tensorflow, keras, statsmodels and related tools

Solid understanding of probability, statistics and machine learning methods including regression, classification, clustering and deep learning
-
Experience using Google Cloud Platform tools like BigQuery, Vertex AI and Google Cloud Storage for ML lifecycle tasks including model training, deployment and data management
-
Ability to gain domain knowledge in UPS logistics and operations to frame business problems in technical modelling terms
-
Skilled at transforming business use cases into clean data pipelines, engineered features and predictive models
-
Collaborative attitude with strong ownership mentality; proactive in identifying optimization opportunities and driving efficiency improvements
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to translate data science findings into stories that resonate with business leadership

Ability to build dashboards, detailed documentation, technical reports and presentations for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. mathematics, computer science, statistics, engineering, operations research or equivalent experience)

Familiarity with operations research techniques and tools such as CPLEX or PULP would be an asset for advanced optimisation work
