JOB DESCRIPTION: Are you someone who enjoys conceptualizing and constructing applications from the ground up? Do you thrive on developing real-time, distributed, large-scale applications? If so, our Software Development team, responsible for constructing Tier-1 Advertising Systems, is looking for you!

As a Software Development Manager at Amazon Ads Core Services, you will play a crucial role in crafting a global, scalable, extensible, and secure platform. This platform manages the ingestion, aggregation, processing, and reporting of billions of clicks and impressions across various Advertising Billing services. You will lead a team of highly motivated and talented individuals, fostering collaboration with product managers, technical specialists, and principal engineers across the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Invent and deliver software solutions that directly impact customer experience.
  • Develop and lead a team of multi-functional builders with a focus on motivation and talent growth.
  • Collaborate on defining the technology roadmap for advertising billing strategy.
  • Shape innovative technology tools to disrupt the billing industry.
  • Navigate and thrive in ambiguous situations, solving unprecedented problems at scale.
  • Work with multiple technical teams across different Amazon locations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
  • Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills to interact with users, technical teams, and senior leadership.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers.
  • Ability to articulate requirements, describe software product features, and communicate technical designs and product strategy.

KEY TECHNICAL CHALLENGES:

  • Distributed and Scalable Architecture: Prepare for a 10X traffic increase in the near future, supporting international expansion and business growth.
  • High Availability: Implement an architecture that ensures minimal or no downtime, crucial for revenue and business opportunity.
  • Precision: Develop generic and extensible reconcilers for anomaly detection and timely response.
