Global Data Solutions Team

To ensure universal access to Visa's payment technology, the success of our bank and merchant partners, as well as internal business units, is paramount. The Global Data Solutions (GDS) team is composed of data professionals with diverse expertise, including data science, data engineering, data visualization, and data acquisition. The Global Data Visualization team is a newly formed unit within the Global Data Solutions team, focusing on utilizing advanced business intelligence and visualization skills to deliver projects for Visa's internal and external clients.

Our primary goal is to create innovative solutions that have an immediate impact on our analytical partners' business. The team operates in cross-functional teams with members from Consulting, Data Science, Technology, Marketing, Legal, and other Visa groups. To support our rapid growth, we are seeking leaders for our Data Visualization group who are passionate about leveraging Visa's rich data to address meaningful business challenges.

We are in search of a highly skilled individual contributor to lead the data visualization and business intelligence domain. This role is a part of the Global Data Solutions team and reports to the Head of Insights Studio, responsible for leading the development of BI and data visualization solutions in a shared services context. Your role will involve helping establish GDS Insights Studio as a global team specializing in BI and data visualization, capable of collaborating with Visa's regional and global teams to drive data-informed decision-making for Visa and its clients. Initially, a significant portion of the team's work will support Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA), a business unit responsible for providing data insights to Visa's clients, where data visualization plays a critical role.

You will collaborate closely with global stakeholders across consulting, data science, technology, and other departments. This position offers the opportunity to utilize your strategic planning, business analysis, and technical knowledge of data engineering, tools, and data architecture solutions. Given that this is a new team, you will play a significant role in establishing the foundation for a central team based on shared services and building foundational capabilities, such as micro frontends and data processes. You will also be a hands-on expert capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop effective solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establish and manage a global BI/Data Visualization team, including creating the necessary structure, assets, design systems, and tooling.
• Define the vision and execution plan for foundational initiatives required to support a team of this scale, including collaboration with Global Design on essential tools and infrastructure.
• Collaborate and influence senior leadership to ensure your work directly contributes to company strategy and direction, working with various stakeholders, including Technology, Data Science leads, VCA Strategy and Operations, and DE global delivery teams, to develop and execute a roadmap of projects and teams.
• Effectively communicate to inform and influence executive audiences, both internally and externally.
• Advocate for technical approaches in data visualization and serve as a subject matter expert in shaping tooling and execution practices.
• Provide technical guidance for managing and improving technical infrastructure, including strategies for utilizing new visualization development processes.
• Gain exposure to financial services and payments data analytics and BI development, with desirable exposure to Marketing, Authorization, Fraud & Chargeback Analytics.
• Build and lead a team of talented data visualization specialists capable of keeping up with and pioneering in this field.
• Manage global shared teams with cross-functional executive stakeholders in an agile manner.
• Work on Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Architecture initiatives in collaboration with technology and business teams.
• Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills for effectively communicating technical insights and recommendations to business customers and the leadership team.

This is a hybrid role that allows employees to split their time between remote and office work, with an expectation of working from the office 2-3 days a week as determined by leadership/site, with a general guideline of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 9 years of work experience with a Master's or PHD in an analytical field such as computer science, statistics, finance, economics, or related areas.
• At least 5 years of experience managing technical architecture, tooling, and design systems for BI development, preferably in the financial services or consulting sector.
• Over 5 years of experience leading BI/data visualization projects and related skills.
• Familiarity with shared services, consulting, and financial services is a strong advantage.
• Broad knowledge of common data tools and methodologies.
• Expert knowledge of the data visualization tool ecosystem and common open-source technologies, such as PowerBI, Tableau, Microstrategy, web frameworks like React, and associated data engineering principles and practices.

Strategic and Functional Excellence

• Strong business acumen to align data analysis with clients' business needs, including experience in the payments industry.
• Ability to translate data and technical concepts into requirements documents, business cases, and user stories.
• Understanding of agile working practices and program management skills.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in Visualization Tools such as Tableau, Power BI, D3, and familiarity with code version control systems (git).
• Proficiency in visual design workflows, from identifying business goals to delivering impactful visualizations and the processes in-between.
• Experience in developing large-scale data engineering pipelines, data-driven decision-making, and quantitative analysis.
• Familiarity with CICD, Data Architectures, Pipelines, Quality, and Code Management.
• Exposure to large-scale project delivery, organization design, and structure for shared services teams, including intake, prioritization, and tracking/reporting.
• Advanced experience in defining goals for BI/Visualization projects to optimize outcomes, aligning with clients' business goals and translating them into compelling reports and insights.
• Proficiency in SQL for extracting, aggregating, and processing big data, including pipelines using Hadoop, EMR, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience in creating and supporting production software/systems and resolving performance bottlenecks for production systems.
