As a data scientist with Progressive Leasing, you will merge analytical thinking with software and engineering best practices to drive meaningful business outcomes

Your work will focus on improving decision systems and predictive models that influence credit approvals, customer retention, and marketing strategies

You will collaborate with stakeholders across product, operations, and finance to understand the data that reflects customer behavior, business processes, and financial performance
-
You will design experiments, prototype new algorithms, and run in-market tests to validate model improvements and optimize processes end to end
-
You’ll take ownership of new data sources both internal and external to identify features and signals that have the greatest impact on model accuracy and stability

This role empowers you to build tools and frameworks that streamline model development and deployment in an agile environment using Git and DevOps practices

You will join a team of fellow data scientists and engineers who share a passion for problem solving and rapid iteration

The position allows you to grow your expertise by balancing hands-on model building with strategic analysis and cross-functional communication

You will present findings and recommendations to leadership, translating technical details into action items that drive strategic change

In this role you will contribute directly to a fast-growing fintech leader at the forefront of retail and ecommerce finance innovation
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, computer science, or physics
-
Proficiency in programming languages and tools for statistical analysis and machine learning; R and Python experience is preferred
-
Hands-on experience applying advanced modeling techniques to solve real-world problems and improve business metrics
-
Able to craft rigorous evaluation designs and conduct research with a focus on replicable, data-driven insights
-
Strong SQL skills for data manipulation and experience working within modern software development life cycles
-
Familiarity with agile methodologies, version control using Git, and DevOps concepts for end-to-end model delivery
-
Demonstrated track record of problem solving through analytical reasoning and creative solution design
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain technical approaches and their business impact
-
Ability to learn quickly and adapt in an entrepreneurial environment where requirements evolve and speed matters

Commitment to collaboration by working closely with engineers, product managers, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver results
