Profile Overview
- As a Data Scientist at The Voleon Group, you’ll be instrumental in deriving actionable insights from complex data sources, contributing directly to the firm’s data-driven investment initiatives.
 - Your main responsibilities will involve data management, analysis, and the development of visualizations to communicate insights effectively to both research and executive teams.
 - You will collaborate with a diverse team, including machine learning researchers and finance professionals, contributing to Voleon’s competitive edge in machine learning applications.
 - This role focuses on ensuring data integrity, identifying anomalies, and communicating findings to various stakeholders to optimize research and trading systems.
 - The position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact, given that data insights are foundational to Voleon’s business strategy.
 - You’ll also develop and implement systems for real-time monitoring, enhancing the reliability and effectiveness of trading systems and decision-making processes.
 
Qualifications
- Industry Experience:
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience in managing end-to-end data processes, including internships.
 - Experience working with complex datasets covering data curation, querying, aggregation, exploratory analysis, and visualization.
 
 - Analytical Skills:
- Strong statistical analysis capabilities to identify patterns, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend data-driven solutions.
 - Proficiency in framing and answering questions with a quantitative approach.
 
 - Technical Skills:
- Proficient in SQL, Pandas, and R for managing, processing, and visualizing tabular data.
 - Basic software development knowledge, with experience using Bash, Linux/Unix, and Git.
 
 - Communication Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to clarify requirements from ambiguous requests, delivering reports with high clarity.
 
 - Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, biostatistics, data science, or computer science.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
 - Background in finance or financial engineering, evidenced by academic projects, relevant coursework, or industry internships.
 - Experience with production environments and familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and Airflow for developing and managing data analysis pipelines.

- Compensation:
- Base salary ranges from $150,000 to $190,000, adjusted by factors such as education, experience, skills, and location.
 - Compensation package includes a bonus structure and comprehensive benefits.
