The successful candidate will join the prestigious Valuations and Analytics Group situated within the broader Product Control (PC) unit at HSBC.
This quantitative team carries global operational responsibility for calculating Fair Value across traded instruments in Global Banking & Markets (GBM).
Additionally, the team delivers critical oversight, analytical support, and strategic validation for fair value determination across all HSBC Group entities worldwide.
The Product Control Analytics unit operates as a centralized, highly specialized quantitative function with key operational hubs in London, Kraków, Paris, and Bangalore.
Primary Purpose and Strategic Mission of the Role:
The primary purpose of the Analyst - Data Engineering role is to architect, develop, and maintain automated computational and data pipeline solutions.
The role focuses on enhancing internal control structures, streamlining analytical processes, and building scalable microservices within the strategic Product Control infrastructure.
Analysts ensure seamless, accurate, and standardized data ingestion and distribution across multiple specialized Product Control, Market Risk, and Trading desks.
The position acts as a crucial quantitative bridge connecting data engineering innovation with business operations, risk modeling, and financial regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities and Functional Duties:
Automated Solution Engineering:
Design, build, test, and deploy automated data pipelines and software solutions using Python, SQL, and VBA to eliminate manual analytical overhead.
Establish robust code bases and maintain internal software tools that support daily fair value adjustments and complex trade data calculations.
Develop and maintain microservices and data services embedded directly inside HSBC's global strategic financial infrastructure.
Data Standardization and Pipeline Management:
Oversee the complete lifecycle of financial data delivery, ensuring data standardization, consistency, and integrity across multiple quantitative teams.
Conduct thorough trade data analysis, position validation, profit and loss (PnL) attribution tracking, and valuation metric processing.
Troubleshoot data pipeline bottlenecks, resolve short-term operational data discrepancies, and build resilient, long-term strategic quantitative fixes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
Partner closely with IT departments, Finance IT, Front Office Quantitative Analysts (FO Quants), and Product Control Valuations teams.
Collaborate with key financial stakeholders in Front Office, Independent Model Review (IMR), Middle Office, and Market Risk Management.
Translate complex regulatory requirements and business user specifications into robust technical architectures and automated SQL/Python tools.
Support for Citizen Developer Ecosystem:
Active participation in developing, maintaining, and expanding HSBC's internal Citizen Developer framework.
Empower non-engineering finance professionals by providing reusable software components, standardized coding templates, and user-friendly development environments.
Drive best practices in Version Control (Git), Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Agile project management methodology across internal business tools.

Qualifications
Educational Background:
Graduation or Master's degree from a reputed, accredited university or academic institution.
