Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields from a reputed institution.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Scala or Python.

  • Familiarity with machine learning models including classification, regression, clustering, and recommendation systems.

  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database querying tools like MySQL.

  • Exposure to big data tools such as Apache Spark and Airflow.

  • Comfort with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.

  • Strong understanding of optimization techniques, loss functions, regularization, and A/B testing methodology.

  • Experience working on academic or industry projects in AI or machine learning is a plus.

  • Clear articulation of thought process and ability to present complex ideas in a simplified manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new frameworks, work independently, and contribute to team goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize ML models to tackle challenges in healthcare data systems.

  • Implement scalable AI algorithms tailored to HiLabs’ suite of products.

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand raw inputs and derive relevant features.

  • Translate business problems into well-defined machine learning objectives.

  • Collaborate with product managers to ensure alignment between solutions and user needs.

  • Work with engineering teams to integrate ML models into existing infrastructure.

  • Continuously iterate on models using A/B testing, user feedback, and real-world performance metrics.

  • Research and experiment with recent ML advancements to enhance model efficiency and accuracy.

  • Analyze data patterns and anomalies to improve current solutions or develop new ones.

  • Help in documenting technical approaches and model behavior for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Present findings and explain ML model decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with deep learning libraries like MxNet, Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

  • Prior exposure to tools like Apache Solr or ELK Stack for text search and mining.

  • Comfort with interpretability techniques and responsible AI principles.

  • Background in anomaly detection, text summarization, or entity extraction is highly valued.

  • Hands-on work in developing pipelines using Snorkel or other data labeling tools.

  • Familiarity with production-level code and CI/CD practices in data science projects.

  • Knowledge of U.S. healthcare systems, claims data, or electronic health records is an advantage.
