Profile Overview:

  • Role and Impact: In the position of Business Analyst for YouTube's Trust & Safety team, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the platform's credibility and user trust.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Develop and analyze key operational metrics to assess performance.
    • Conduct in-depth data analyses to derive actionable insights for policy enhancement and user experience optimization.
    • Collaborate with various internal teams to create compelling data-driven narratives for stakeholders.
    • Perform sophisticated quantitative analyses to support strategic initiatives and decision-making processes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize skills in SQL, Python, R, or similar coding languages for statistical problem-solving and data analytics.
  • Mission Contribution: Aid YouTube in fulfilling its mission of providing a platform for diverse voices and fostering a global community through safe and fair content practices.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology.
    • Have at least one year of experience in roles related to data analytics, consulting, data science, engineering, or technical operations.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in statistical problem-solving and data analysis using SQL or other coding languages (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++).
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience in managing projects and optimizing processes through data analytics.
    • Ability to write and maintain ETL processes for handling various structured and unstructured data sources.
    • Knowledge of systems related to abuse prevention, policy enforcement, and regulatory compliance.
    • Expertise in generating production-level metrics and actionable insights.
    • Competence in addressing high-priority regulatory requests efficiently.

Detailed Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Operational Metrics Development: Create, build, and measure performance on operational metrics such as productivity, service level agreements, quality, cost, efficiency, and timeliness to drive operational improvements.
  • Policy Impact Analysis: Understand the impact of policies on users, gain expertise in key metrics, and conduct detailed analyses that provide actionable insights to enhance user experience on the platform.
  • Analytical Support: Run ongoing and ad-hoc analyses to support site-wide Trust & Safety objectives, operational effectiveness, and incident response initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work with Operations, Engineering, Legal, Public Relations, and Product Management teams to develop compelling data-driven narratives for key stakeholders, including policy makers and executives.
  • Advanced Quantitative Analysis: Partner with data science and strategy teams to prioritize and execute complex quantitative analyses and advanced modeling that deliver actionable insights.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with data-driven objectives and operational goals.
  • Data Integration: Write and maintain ETL scripts that operate on various data sources, both structured and unstructured, to ensure comprehensive data analysis.
  • Abuse Prevention Expertise: Develop expertise in abuse prevention systems and contribute to policy development and enforcement strategies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure timely and appropriate responses to high-priority regulatory inquiries, maintaining compliance with relevant legal frameworks.
  • Performance Metrics Delivery: Produce and deliver metrics, insights, and actions at a production level to support continuous improvement in Trust & Safety operations.
