About Us

Our Digital & Data Science team plays a pivotal role in designing and executing ambitious and scalable climate impact initiatives while minimizing administrative burdens. Leveraging our extensive project experience and verified carbon credits data, we identify new opportunities to drive high-impact sustainability initiatives globally. We collaborate with companies to implement carbon-neutral strategies and foster sustainability through analytics and software solutions.

Job Summary

As a Data Engineer (Analytics) at South Pole, you'll contribute to our mission of driving sustainability through data-driven insights. You'll be tasked with addressing complex challenges related to carbon credits sourcing and management, playing a crucial role in our Data team within the Technology department.

The Challenge

Carbon Credits present complex challenges, requiring data expertise to develop advanced dbt data models. Experience in designing Inventory data management and Master data is highly desirable for this role.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

Google Cloud Platform

  • Utilize BigQuery and related services for data processing and analysis.

Data Modelling

  • Implement dbt or similar tools for building sophisticated DAGs (Directed Acyclic Graphs) to optimize data workflows.

Stakeholder Management

  • Translate diverse design requirements into elegant solutions that meet end-user needs.
  • Manage change processes effectively.

Supporting Tooling

  • Work with tools such as PowerBI/Looker, Google Sheets/AppSheets for data visualization and reporting.

Data Quality

  • Ensure data integrity through reconciliations, testing, and alignment of definitions.

Enthusiasm for Sustainability

  • Thrive in a global company dedicated to sustainability initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience with cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Familiarity with data governance and management policies.
  • Experience in gathering business requirements for data sourcing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
