Company description
Smartivity stands proudly as India's foremost and most innovative STEM toy brand, having established its pioneering presence in the market since its inception in 2015 by visionary graduates and engineers from IIT Delhi.
The organization is fundamentally dedicated to revolutionizing early childhood education and development by engineering and delivering high-quality, screen-free wooden do-it-yourself (DIY) learning kits tailored specifically for children spanning the vital developmental ages of 3 to 14 years.
Over the years of dedicated operations and continuous innovation, Smartivity has achieved extraordinary milestones, boasting an impressive catalog of over 130 unique proprietary products that captivate young minds and foster holistic cognitive growth.
The brand has achieved remarkable commercial scale, having successfully delivered and sold over 10 million kits globally, demonstrating immense customer trust, widespread market adoption, and strong brand equity across diverse consumer segments.
Innovation is deeply embedded in the organizational DNA, reflected by an extraordinary portfolio of over 163 patents filed, protecting unique mechanical designs, educational methodologies, and interactive play systems.
Unlike many modern toy companies that outsource production, Smartivity maintains rigorous quality control and operational excellence by designing, engineering, and manufacturing 100% of its products entirely in-house at its advanced facility located in Manesar.
The company's core philosophy centers on the integration of STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics—into everyday play, ensuring that children grasp complex fundamental scientific and engineering principles through tactile, hands-on experimentation.
Every single kit manufactured by Smartivity is thoughtfully constructed from 100% eco-friendly, re-engineered pinewood, accompanied by richly illustrated instruction manuals and learner’s sheets that guide children and parents through an enriching educational journey.
The corporate culture fosters continuous learning, intellectual curiosity, analytical rigor, and a deep passion for transforming how the next generation of builders, thinkers, and creators interacts with the physical world around them.
Employees at Smartivity work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and mission-driven environment where strategic market insights directly influence product development lifecycles, manufacturing priorities, and long-term global expansion strategies.
The organization actively promotes internal growth, leadership development, and cross-functional collaboration, empowering young analysts and engineers to take ownership of high-impact strategic initiatives from day one.
By bridging the gap between traditional tactile play and modern educational standards such as NEP 2020, Smartivity continues to lead the global movement away from passive screen time toward active, imagination-driven learning experiences.
Profile overview:
The Product Insight Analyst will serve as a foundational strategic pillar for Smartivity, operating at the intersection of consumer analytics, market research, and long-term product vision to shape the brand's trajectory over the next 3 to 5 years.
Fads come and go rapidly in the toy industry, but enduring brands are built on disciplined, long-term strategic bets; this role is specifically designed to help Smartivity identify, evaluate, and capitalize on structural shifts in how children learn, play, and grow.
A primary responsibility of the analyst will be to conceptualize, design, and establish Smartivity's comprehensive product discovery playbook—a repeatable, standardized, and data-backed framework for spotting, testing, and prioritizing new market opportunities.
This discovery playbook will define the core data sources trusted by the organization, establish rigorous evaluation criteria for new product ideas, outline methodologies for sizing and scoring opportunities, and institutionalize post-launch learning loops.
The analyst will continuously monitor, dissect, and document structural forces reshaping the global landscape of children's play, including rising parental concerns over screen time, government educational frameworks like NEP 2020, and evolving family income dynamics.
The role requires developing robust, evidence-backed category theses that clearly outline which specific toy categories, play themes, and age bands Smartivity should aggressively own, strategically enter, or consciously avoid over a multi-year horizon.
Comprehensive market sizing exercises, long-term growth outlook assessments, and detailed competitive dynamics evaluations will form the cornerstone of every strategic category thesis produced by the analyst.
The candidate will be expected to think in terms of scalable product platforms rather than isolated, one-off stock-keeping units (SKUs), identifying modular product systems that can expand into rich product families over several years.
Platform strategies developed by the analyst must deliberately build upon Smartivity's existing intellectual property portfolio, patent holdings, and in-house manufacturing capabilities in Manesar to maximize operational synergy.
Separating fleeting market noise from genuine, lasting consumer signals will require sophisticated utilization of search trends, marketplace metrics, and social intelligence tools to test whether an emerging trend represents a permanent shift or a temporary fad.
The analyst will perform large-scale listening operations by meticulously analyzing customer reviews, product feedback, customer service complaints, and internal part-replacement and returns data to uncover persistent, unmet consumer needs.
Monitoring the global frontier of play will be an ongoing duty, involving the close observation of international toy launches, emerging patent filings across global jurisdictions, and cutting-edge academic research on child development and pedagogy.
Insights derived from continuous monitoring and deep-dive research will directly feed into Smartivity's long-term strategic opportunity map, guiding quarterly planning sessions and aligning the product development team with high-conviction priorities.
The position requires translating complex, multi-source quantitative data and qualitative research into crisp, highly confident, and actionable recommendations presented directly to cross-functional leadership and product stakeholders.
While familiarity with specific market intelligence tools is advantageous, the organization places supreme value on structured thinking, intellectual curiosity, analytical agility, and the candidate's innate product taste regarding children's play patterns.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized institution in engineering, economics, business administration, mathematics, statistics, or another rigorous quantitative discipline.
The role is structured to welcome emerging talent and early-career professionals, welcoming candidates with 0 to 3 years of professional experience across data analytics, market research, management consulting, or dynamic startup environments.
Exceptional proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets is an absolute prerequisite, with the ability to manage large datasets, build complex financial or analytical models, and synthesize data efficiently.
Practical working knowledge, programming capability, or strong familiarity with Python or SQL is considered a massive professional advantage for applicants aiming to handle automated data extraction and database querying.
Candidates must demonstrate structured, long-horizon cognitive abilities, showing a proven capacity to formulate a strategic thesis, rigorously test it against empirical data, and gracefully update their perspective when new evidence emerges.
A refined sense of product taste and a genuine, deep-seated curiosity about child psychology, educational methodologies, how children learn through tactile interaction, and the mechanics of play are vital for success.
The ability to distill vast quantities of ambiguous research, market reports, and consumer data into crisp, highly persuasive, and executive-ready recommendations is critical.
Experience utilizing professional market intelligence and category data platforms such as Circana (NPD), Euromonitor, Statista, and specialized industry or investor research reports will be evaluated favorably.
Familiarity with demand forecasting and trend-signal platforms including Google Trends, Amazon Brand Analytics, Jungle Scout, Keepa, and Exploding Topics is highly desirable.
Knowledge of competitive intelligence and intellectual property landscapes through tools such as Google Patents, Similarweb, and the Meta Ad Library will provide candidates with an immediate operational edge.
Competence in modern data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Looker Studio or Microsoft Power BI is appreciated for building intuitive dashboards that communicate analytical findings across teams.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are mandatory, enabling the candidate to present complex analytical findings and strategic recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
High levels of initiative, intellectual independence, self-motivation, and comfort working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial manufacturing environment where strategic ambiguity is successfully navigated with structured frameworks.
