BCN Labs functions as a Center of Excellence (CoE) akin to a specialized R&D boutique startup within the Bain ecosystem. We specialize in delivering end-to-end data-driven solutions across various sectors and industries. Collaborating directly with other CoEs and Practices within Bain as part of the Expert Client Delivery system, we engage with teams globally. As business thought partners, our focus lies in leveraging analytical techniques and algorithms intelligently across diverse disciplines to construct exceptional solutions. Our ultimate objective is to establish a disruptive, high-impact, business-enabled analytical solutions delivery system across all verticals of Bain.
What You Will Do
We seek a dynamic candidate with experience in advanced analytics, possessing strong implementation skills and exposure to the mathematical underpinnings of analytical techniques and algorithms, to fill the Associate role within BCN Labs. The Associate is anticipated to excel in implementing data science techniques while also delving into the mathematical intricacies of statistical learning models. Typically, an Associate will manage client use-cases from end to end with oversight from a Project Leader or above. They should generate analytical insights from their implementation and modeling work, which can inform business decisions and drive impact.
The Associate is expected to:
- Decompose analytical problems into manageable components for collaborative problem-solving.
- Brainstorm potential models, algorithms, and implementation techniques with their team and leadership to devise optimal solutions.
- Proactively experiment and code using various technologies/languages to ensure flawless implementations.
- Possess structured communication skills and learn the consulting toolkit to translate analytical insights into business impacts.
- Work on developing new products and solutions and experiment with data science techniques.
Associates are encouraged to seek out challenging problems, generate their own heuristics and ideas, and engage in brainstorming sessions with peers and managers. They should demonstrate a willingness to learn new techniques and approach problem-solving with an interdisciplinary mindset. Strong coding skills and the ability to write modular, functional code are essential.
About You
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in a field related to analytics such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or Engineering.
- For Bachelor's degree holders, a minimum of 2 years of work experience demonstrating implementation skills is required. For Master's degree holders, internship experience and a strong Master's thesis are expected.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R, as well as SQL, is mandatory.
- Some exposure to and expertise in statistical learning models is required.
- (Good-to-have, but not necessary) Exposure to either AWS or Azure with some experience deploying Python-based solutions on cloud platforms, Airflow, Snowflake, PySpark, Git, Docker, etc.
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment with a collaborative approach to problem-solving, akin to a college/hostel-style working environment.
- Ability to deliver data-driven projects effectively.
