JOB SUMMARY:
The Junior Data & Analytics (D&A) Engineer assumes a crucial role in the development of analytics-centric solutions that refine and optimize clinical trial processes. Collaborating closely with our data & analytics team and clinical trial specialists, this position leverages cutting-edge AI and LLM (Machine Learning and Deep Learning) technologies to elevate decision-making within the clinical trial domain. The Junior D&A Engineer is an integral member of a domain-agnostic team, engaging with both structured and unstructured data, crafting algorithms, and implementing innovative functionalities catering to diverse business scenarios within WCG's data & analytics function. Serving as a core component of the data & analytics team, the Junior D&A Engineer is responsible for designing and constructing analytics frameworks, documenting best practices, and collaborating with architecture and infrastructure teams to develop patterns.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, data mining, machine learning, or a related empirical science) with a specialization in data science, engineering, or a related field preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Competence in data manipulation and analysis using SQL and data processing tools (e.g., Apache Spark).
- Proficiency with machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare and clinical trial processes is advantageous.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Understanding of relational and non-relational databases and their functionality.
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as DataBricks, Hadoop, and Kafka.
- Possession of a data security mindset.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Data Collection and Integration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, cleanse, and integrate diverse healthcare and clinical trial data from multiple sources.
Machine Learning Model Development:
Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models to tackle specific challenges encountered in clinical trials, including patient recruitment, data analysis, protocol study, anomaly detection, document entity extraction, document generation, translation, and outcome prediction.
Data Processing:
Establish data pipelines and workflows to preprocess and transform data into a suitable format for analysis and modeling.
Model Evaluation:
Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of machine learning models, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and robustness.
Data Visualization:
Create interactive data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights and outcomes effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data engineering and analytics processes, encompassing code, model specifications, and best practices.
Research and Innovation:
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and LLM technologies and explore their potential applications in enhancing clinical trial processes.
Collaboration:
Engage closely with clinical experts, data scientists, and engineers to develop and implement solutions that directly impact the healthcare and clinical research industry.
